Wikileaks founder Julian Assange believes that recently exposed NSA mass-surveillance scheme is a “calamitous collapse in the rule of law.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Assange accused the US government of trying to “launder” its activities concerning the large-scale spying program PRISM<\/a>, reports Russian television.<\/p>\n

This surveillance system was made public after a leaked classified National Security Agency (NSA) document was revealed earlier this week.<\/p>\n

“The US administration has the phone records of everyone in the United States and is receiving them daily from carriers to the National Security Agency under secret agreements. That’s what’s come out,”<\/em> said Assange<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

President Obama defended on Friday<\/a> his administration\u2019s massive seizure of private citizens\u2019 phone records, email and Internet activities as \u201cmodest encroachments on privacy\u201d that are necessary to fight the war on terrorism.<\/p>\n

\u201cI came in with a healthy skepticism about these programs,\u201d<\/em> he said. \u201cMy team evaluated them. My assessment, and my team\u2019s assessment, was that they help us prevent terrorist attacks.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Critics of the Obama Administration have accused it of an unprecedented crackdown on whistleblowers \u2013 more government officials are being prosecuted for leaks under Obama than all previous administrations combined, reports RT.<\/p>\n

“Over the last 10 years, the US justice system has suffered from a collapse, a calamitous collapse, in the rule of law,\u201d<\/em> Julian Assange said about it.<\/p>\n
