The NATO military infrastructure is approaching the\u00a0Russian border, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a\u00a0press-conference in Warsaw summarizing the results of the talks with Foreign\u00a0Ministers of Poland and Germany Radoslaw Sikorski and Guido Westerwelle.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lavrov said that NATO\u2019s advance to the east is taking\u00a0place in defiance of the alliance\u2019s\u00a0former obligations.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the aim of Russia and its ally\u00a0Belarus is defence of their borders. In this connection Lavrov said that the\u00a0issue of possible setting up a Russian air base on Belarusian territory has\u00a0nothing to do with missile defence.<\/p>\n

Answering journalists\u2019 questions Lavrov assured them that\u00a0Moscow is not planning to sell S-300 missile defence systems to Syria. As for the\u00a0previous contracts, Russia is completing deliveries of defensive weapons to\u00a0Damascus.<\/p>\n
