Photo: EPA<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Russia and the EU are poised to map out a new partnership agreement, Russia\u2019s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov has told the Voice of Russia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p id=\"p_10\">According to Mr. Meshkov, both parties are interested in signing a new accord by the 20<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the existing partnership deal in 2014.<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_20\">He pointed out however that the new format was likely to focus on Russia\u2019s WTO membership since economic relations and trade had been largely put on the front burner of EU-Russian relations.<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_30\">\u201cWe aren\u2019t ready to undertake any new commitments in this sphere. We\u2019d like to see first what the already imposed ones will incur,\u201d the pundit said, stressing that this standpoint was \u201cmet with understanding from our EU partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_40\">Mr. Meshkov also said that talks on Russia\u2019s WTO entry had paved the way for the new agreement. \u201cDe facto, these negotiations outlined corresponding provisions of the document,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_50\">He added that the breakthrough deal was very likely to be signed next year, saying it would be drawn up with all contemporary developments in mind.<\/p>\n<p id=\"p_60\">Voice of Russia<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/english.ruvr.ru\/2013_03_26\/Russia-EU-poised-to-strike-21-century-partnership-deal-Russian-official-501\/\" target=\"_blank\">VOR<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The flag of EU.
