In a landscape peppered with &#8220;producers&#8217; projects&#8221; and line-ups that change almost monthly, you&#8217;d have every right to walk around with low expectations. The inability to define exactly\u00a0<em>who\u00a0<\/em>is in these bands at any times can be extreme (though their are sometimes warning signs: reaching 30 would be one of them). Indecent discussions can be found on line, from socially challenged young men, listing the various line-ups of female &#8220;projects&#8221; that would be worthy of their sexual attention, and those which wouldn&#8217;t. (Some I doubt the interest would be mutual).<\/p>\n<p>One pleasant exception is the ensemble &#8220;Slivki&#8221; (Cream), who&#8217;ve been pushing out very respectable releases for over five years, yet only retained their central member, Karina Koks (here in the, um&#8230; center). By way of surprising example, their version of <a title=\"Alla Pugacheva (what's that carpet stain?)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newsmusic.ru\/uploads\/i\/p\/pugacheva3.jpg\">Pugacheva<\/a>&#8216;s &#8220;Kuda ukhodit detstva&#8221; remains one of the best post-Soviet cover versions ever.)<\/p>\n<p>The basic reason for their ongoing high standards (despite posing for shoots such as <a title=\"Is it hot in here?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.maximonline.ru\/maximgirls\/wallpapers\/1002\/article.html\">this<\/a>) is the production standards from release to release, and a stubborn refusal to stop to synthesized backing. The funk intro to the new album &#8220;Zamorochki&#8221; is infinitely more complex than anything you&#8217;d expect from a band dimissed as primetime fodder. Likewise the videowork shows a great deal of humor and healthy self-deprecation, such as the newest video &#8220;Khvatit&#8221; (Stop It!). It showcases a smart and savvy album (even if concludes with a couple of pretty pointless karaoke tracks&#8230;).
