He also stressed that the elections in May will be illegitimate and illegal and they run counter to the Ukrainian constitution. And the elections do take place, they  will be controlled by extremists.

“The international community should not support unconstitutional coups. Those who seized the power are shifting the blame for the crisis on my shoulders and Russia’s. The people are going to be made responsible for torturing their own people, for firing at them. Because of their actions Crimea is going to be separated from Ukraine. I remain the only legitimate president of Ukraine and its commander in chief. I haven’t relegate,” Yanukovych stressed.

Viktor Yanukovych noted that he was target of terrorist actions and that the new Ukrainian government seeks to unleash a civil war in the country.

US laws prohibit financial aid to governments that seize power as a result of coup – Yanukovych

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych intends to petition to the Congress and Supreme Court of the United States to come up with a legal assessment of the situation in Ukraine, particularly in light of the White House’s proposal to provide financial aid to the self-imposed Kiev government.

“As far as I know, the US legislation prohibits financial aid to any government that has seized power as a result of an armed coup or through any other unlawful actions. I intend to petition to the [US] Congress and the Supreme Court to make a legal assessment of the situation. Your own laws prohibit you from giving money to bandits,” Yanukovych said at a press conference in Rostov-on-Don on Tuesday.

Earlier, US State Secretary John Kerry unveiled Washington’s plans to provide financial aid to Kiev in the form of loan guarantees amounting $1 billion.

On February 22, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (parliament), following the violent seizure of government buildings and the presidential residence by rioting opposition supporters, removed Yanukovych from office in violation of the Constitution, and appointed Alexander Turchynov as acting President and Speaker of the parliament and later as Supreme-Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

Yanukovych insists that he remains the legitimately-elected President of Ukraine.

I have not been impeached as Ukrainian president – Yanukovych

The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych stressed that he hadn’t been impeached as Ukrainian president during a press-conference in Rostov-on-Don on Tuesday.

Ukrainian leader Viktor Yanukovych on Tuesday said that he was still the country’s legitimate president and commander-in-chief, saying he believed he would be able to return to Kiev soon. “I remain not just the sole legitimate president of Ukraine but also commander-in-chief,” he said in his first public appearance in over a week, in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don.

“As soon as the circumstances allow – and I am sure there is not long to wait – I will without doubt return to Kiev,” he added.

Kiev seeks to unleash civil war – Yanukovych

A campaign of lawlessness against citizens of Ukraine is assuming a wider scale as Kiev seeks to unleash a civil war, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said in a statement on Tuesday. “Cities are patrolled by people wearing masks and armbands. Lawlessness against citizens of Ukraine is taking on a wider scale. They sack top army officers who oppose the use of military force against civilians in southeastern Ukraine. Just think, they want to place the army under the banner of Bandera and unleash a civil war,” Yanukovich told journalists in Rostov-on-Don.

“They want to include militants of nationalist organizations into the Armed Forces, they want to arm them,” he said.

Yanukovych repeated that he had not been impeached and remained the legitimately-elected president of Ukraine.

Yanukovych says Ukraine’s May 25 presidential polls are illegitimate

Viktor Yanukovych has said that he intends to return to Kyiv in the near future and has described Ukraine’s presidential elections, set for May 25, as illegitimate.

“As soon as the situation permits, I will certainly return to Kyiv. Surely, it will not be long,” Yanukovych told reporters in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, on Tuesday.

“The presidential elections, which were set for May 25 by this clique that seized power as a result of an unconstitutional coup, are absolutely illegitimate and unlawful,” he said.

Kiev’s plans to cut salaries and social spending inhumane – Yanukovych

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has slammed as inhumane plans by the self-imposed Kiev authorities to cut social payments.

“Their plans to cut social spending, pensions, allowances and salaries are inhumane and directed against the people. I, our government, had a clear-cut plan of maintaining the current living standards in Ukraine,” Yanukovych told journalists in Rostov-on-Don on Tuesday.

He warned that the socio-economic situation in Ukraine would sharply deteriorate, dealing a hard blow to the people of Ukraine.

“The usurpers who seized power will then attempt to shift the blame on me and perhaps even on Russia. I will never accept that,” Yanukovych said.
