A naked snow-sledding competition has run off in the town of Altenberg, Germany, where twelve women and thirteen men vied for a 1,000-euro prize. The contesters covered a distance of 100 meters on sledges wearing only underwear, despite biting cold and snowfall. Singer Annette Schnädelbach emerged victorious in this traditional German fun race. She gave her win away to a cancer charity.
One should know, being naked in public is in Germany quite a different experience in comparison to most of the countries.
If you go in Germany to a public sauna for example, men and women are together and always completely naked!
If a basketball coach is a woman and the players are men, don’t be surprised to see the coach taking shower in company with the boys afterwards.
So strange it may sound to an American, who is conditioned to deny any naked-hood in public, you can imagine the German’s surprise to find dressed people in the sauna making exercise with weights.
It seems some one missed the purpose of a sauna, but this is another story …
